South Arm Beach is 2.5km long and faces west.
It is sheltered from swells travelling up the Derwent River by the headland at the southern end of the beach.
There is a car park at the South Arm War Memorial on Jetty Road close to the southern end of the beach.

- Dogs not permitted between 10.00am and 6.00pm, from 1 December to 1 March each year. At all other times, dogs may be exercised off lead, but must remain under effective control.
