Additional Information

In 2017 to mark the 50th anniversary of Black Tuesday and the 1967 bushfires, a commemorate space was created at Percy Park for members of the community to reflect on the devastation caused.

The space includes a bench seat with a commemorative plaque and an interpretation panel. Five trees were planted in memory of the five members of the Clarence community who lost their lives during the fires.

Of all the places in Clarence, Rokeby suffered the worst during the bushfires with no reticulated water or fire brigade. The community rallied together and fifty years on, Rokeby has been rebuilt.
