Construction of a new outdoor exercise area for seniors has commenced at Simmons Park, Lindisfarne, next to the Foreshore Trail near the ampitheatre.

The project is funded by a 2021 Election Commitment grant from the Tasmanian State Government.

The purpose of the project is to provide an outdoor exercise facility specifically designed for seniors and this site will be the first of its type in Clarence.

The seniors exercise equipment provides opportunities for low impact exercise by older people and targets movement, coordination, strength, and flexibility.

Supporting infrastructure includes shade sails, level pavements, a picnic shelter and a variety of seating and table settings providing places for seniors to comfortably gather, socialise and engage with outdoor activities.

Construction is expected to run until mid-October but will not cause any disruption to the use of the current park or foreshore trail.
