Rosny Early Learning provides a safe, happy, enriched, and sustainable environment which encircles children, families, service staff and our community.

We strongly believe in the importance of play in the early education and care setting.

Through play, children develop a sense of the world around them. It is vital that they be given the opportunity to participate in unstructured play which allows trial and error exploration, reasonable risk, and the development of their own ideas.

Our learning environment is a welcoming space set in a natural bush style garden with a vegetable patch, and our small size means that our children have a real sense of belonging as they build relationships with all educators and children in shared spaces.

Our centre

We have three age-based rooms that are connected by shared spaces. This means that children transition easily to the next room when it’s time. Each room has a Tasmanian animal-themed name.

  • Tasmanian Pygmy Possums: Space for eight children, aged between 8 months–2 years old, with two early childhood educators.
  • Little Penguins: Space for 10 children aged between, 2–3 years old, with two early childhood educators.
  • Superb Fairy Wrens: Space for up to 20 children, aged 3–5 years old, with two early childhood educators.

We have two outdoor areas.

The garden on Riawena Road (front garden) is our Seasonal Garden with lots of grass to play on as well as an orchard, vegetable garden beds and compost. The space has become an integral part of the children’s learning and development at Rosny Early Learning.

The garden on Loinah Road (back garden) has native plants and grasses that create rooms of play. There are plenty of stone paths and steps for the children to explore and challenge themselves on, as well as two playhouses that continue to create a sense of wonder and foster imagination for the children.

There is a central area of soft fall with a large tepee structure and space for educators to arrange equipment for gross motor skill development, and an enormous, shaded sandpit, a large area for bike riding and an undercover area to use when the weather is wet.

Holistic learning

Our Curriculum is based on the Australian Early Years Learning Framework.

It is driven by children’s interests, strengths and needs and is a balance of intentional teaching by experienced staff and children’s emerging passions for learning.

Educators are respectful of children’s unique individuality, personality and ability, creating environments and programs that inspire and engage.

We believe that parents and families are the first teachers of children, so sharing the learning journey is vitally important to us. We encourage and support family and community involvement, making connections to nurture and develop every child’s sense of self.

Our educators are all qualified or working towards qualifications in child care and early childhood education.

All our meals are prepared fresh each day and are well balanced and nutritious and can cater for all children’s specific dietary requirements.

Rosny Early Learning uses an online communication and programming app called Kinderloop to document each child’s progress, interests, and strengths. We use it to share photos and comments from the day (such as sleeps, eating and nappy changes) instantly with our families, and families can communicate with us regarding their child.
