Inspiring creativity, connecting communities, and driving growth.
The Rosny Farm Culture and Creative Industries Precinct is a transformative project set to redefine Clarence as a leading regional cultural centre. The vision for the site is to create a central hub for creative development and presentation, Aboriginal cultural education and expression, cultural tourism, youth development, and media creation.
This multi-use project will address critical gaps in creative infrastructure, enhance community engagement, and drive economic growth through cultural tourism, urban development, and local job creation.
Clarence City Council is currently developing concept plans to expand and develop the Rosny Farm Arts Centre site into a multi-use culture and creative industries precinct to elevate the quality of artistic presentations, create spaces for artists to develop, exhibit and perform new works and to drive growth, visitation, and community participation.
This project aligns with key federal and state strategies, including the National Cultural Policy – Revive, the Hobart City Deal, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, and the Arts Corporate Plan 2023-2027 as well as alignment with Clarence City Council’s Strategic Plan 2021-2032, the Cultural Creative Strategy 2023-2033, the draft City Heart Plan and other key strategies.
2025 update: Council is currently preparing an application for funding through the Urban Precincts and Partnerships program – Stream 1: Precinct Development and Planning to support the Rosny Farm Culture and Creative Industries Precinct project.
Social benefits
This project will deliver significant social benefits by fostering community engagement, inclusivity, and cultural pride. It will provide accessible spaces for diverse groups to participate in arts and cultural activities, strengthen social connections and promote intergenerational change.
Youth development programs will offer mentorship and creative skill building, helping young people connect with career pathways in the arts. Additionally, by celebrating local and First Nations cultures, the precinct will enhance cultural identity, support mental wellbeing, and build a more resilient connected community.
Economic benefits
The Rosny Farm Culture and Creative Industries Precinct will generate substantial economic benefits by boosting cultural tourism and supporting businesses in Clarence and Greater Hobart. Attracting high-yield visitors through festivals, exhibitions, and performances, it will drive spending in hospitality, retail, and accommodation sectors.
The project will create jobs in construction, event management, and the creative industries, while enhancing local spending through cultural programs and events. Additionally, its integration with urban renewal plans will stimulate economic growth by attracting investment and fostering a vibrant, sustainable community.
