We want to ensure that we talk to our residents and businesses about matters that affect them. Because of this, we will always try to talk to a range of people across our diverse community about the projects that we do.

Some of our key consultation principles are:

  • To ensure consultations are accessible, visible, age and stage appropriate, and provide a range of ways in which the community can participate (online and in-person)
  • To provide opportunities for the community to be deeply involved through all stages of development with consultation and reporting for every stage.
  • To ensure community feedback is an integral part of the decision-making process right from the start and ensure key council staff are available throughout the project.
  • To ensure a wide range of voices are consulted and engaged throughout
  • Ensuring our engagement approaches meet stakeholder preferences and capabilities and expert knowledge and feedback is sought and incorporated.
  • Being transparent

Throughout the engagement process we will use diverse methods to support different learning styles including videos, online expert presentation webinar, in person presentation and workshop, written materials, and conversations with council officers.

‘Your Say’ website

All of our engagement activities and opportunities for comment on council projects are shared throughout the year on the Your Say page.
