As part of council’s Rates and Charges Policy 2024, council can provide a general rate remission to a not-for-profit (NFP) organisation who is not operating commercial activity (on all or part of the property). This includes council’s exclusive use lessees who are also NFP organisations.
Each application will be assessed against the principles of the National Competition Policy, equity for all rate payers and the frequency and nature of events/activities undertaken by the organisation.
An application must be completed by a board member and include evidence and supporting documentation of not-for-profit status and on-site activites.
Every two years, applicants are required to renew the general rate remission application, or at a time determined by council based on the property and usage.
