Clifton Beach faces southeast into Storm Bay exposing it to southerly swells. Waves are known to average 1 to 1.5m and maintain a moderately steep beach. Rips are known to occur at Clifton Beach.

Clifton Beach Surf Life Saving Club provides volunteer patrols on weekends and public holidays during the summer months.

Clifton Beach can be accessed at the end of Clifton Beach Road.

This beach is managed by the Parks and Wildlife Service.
