We recognise the significant role community groups, organisations, business and individuals play in realising our vision of “Clarence… a vibrant, prosperous, sustainable city”, and there are several ways that we provide support.
We offer a range of grant programs and sponsorship opportunities including:
- Community grants
- Cultural and Creative grants
- Environment and Biodiversity grants
- Quick response grants
- Sponsorship of events and activities
Grants of up to $5,000 or $5,000 to $10,000 are available to eligible registrants for projects that support our objectives in these areas:
- Connected, resilient and inclusive communities
- Community engagement and participation
- Healthy and active living
- Cultural and creative activities
- A prosperous and innovative economy
- Community safety
- Sustainable practices
Please download and read the guidelines and fact sheet before applying. There is a limit of one application per person/group for each round and applicants from outside of Clarence may apply, but must demonstrate benefit to the Clarence community.
Community Grants
These grants aim to support programs and activities that address a specific need, promote resilience, community engagement, connection and participation and/or provide a direct benefit to the community of Clarence.

Cultural and creative grants
Cultural and Creative Grants support our vision of ‘Clarence… a gateway to Tasmania Culture’ by supporting programs, events and activities that activate art and cultural pursuits in the community. Individual artists, community groups, and not-for-profit arts organisations can apply.

Environment and Biodiversity Grants
The Environment and Biodiversity Grants are offered once a year to support the conservation, management and enhancement of natural areas and biodiversity in the City of Clarence. These are designed to support local communities and volunteer groups who work in alignment with council’s strategic Reserve Activity Plans.

Quick Response Grants
Rare opportunities sometimes deserve special support and for this reason council provides funding through the Quick Response Grant Program for:
- Youth Assistance – support to participate, compete or officiate at a community, state, national or international level, including sport and youth exchange, conference and forums.
- General – Projects/Events/Activities – grants of up to $500 for small projects, activities and events that strengthen neighbourhoods, build community resilience and wellbeing education.

Sponsorship
The sponsorship program aims to support events and activities that foster a prosperous and innovative economy. It supports initiatives, programs, and activations that provide economic and visitation benefits to the city, contributing to the community’s ability to adapt and thrive economically.
Sponsorship applications are welcome throughout the year.
Our sponsorship options include:
- Financial contributions towards the cost of running the event or activity.
- Financial contributions to cover the full/partial fees or charges for using a council-owned facility or venue.
- In-kind support, such as marketing and promotion through the Council’s websites and social media.
- Use of banner sign poles in Bellerive Village or Rosny Bus Mall (excluding the costs for materials, printing, production, installation, or dismantling of banners).
- A funding agreement, detailing the terms and conditions, will be executed by both parties upon the successful approval of the application.
