The study area covers approximately 56ha of land and has access from South Arm Road (south west), Acton Road (west), Balook Street (east) Mannata Street and Ringwood Road (south) and is currently zoned Rural Living under the Clarence Interim Planning Scheme.

The project’s first stage report was received at the October Council meeting. Council has decided to undertake community consultation on the report before determining whether or not to proceed with the project, which includes the statutory approval processes associated with any rezoning.

The report examines the sustainable land capability for future use and development of the area. It encompasses planning, engineering, environmental, cultural, social, traffic and financial assessments. While the study finds that urban development of the land may be achievable, this is subject to a number of important constraints that would need to be considered by Council in determining whether or not to proceed with rezoning of the land.

Submissions have been requested until 28 November and further information, including the feasibility study can be found on Council’s website at www.ccc.tas.gov.au.
