Just in time for summer new cricket nets installed at Clarence High School have generated excitement among residents and cricket clubs, who are now making full use of these new facilities.

Situated near the corner of Silwood Avenue and Clarence Street, the nets were completed in late November as part of a broader initiative to enhance sporting infrastructure across the city.

The project was partly funded by a grant from Cricket Tasmania, and Clarence Council Mayor Brendan Blomeley expressed pride in providing these much-needed facilities for the region.

“It will particularly benefit junior and female players from the Clarence District Cricket Club,” Mayor Blomeley said.

“The Clarence District Cricket Club’s existing training facilities at Kangaroo Bay are at full capacity this summer, so the timing of this project completion is perfect.

“We are proud to deliver these training nets for our community, improving the facilities available for our cricketers and provide the support needed to see local players thrive.”

This initiative is part of a larger plan to improve cricket training opportunities, with additional upgrades, such as synthetic centre-wickets at Risdon Vale and Clarendon Ovals, also funded by the grant.

Mayor Blomeley thanked Cricket Tasmania for their partnership and looks forward to further collaboration in the future.
