Clarence City Council Mayor, Councillor Brendan Blomeley warmly welcomed the announcement of a new headspace centre to be established on Hobart’s Eastern Shore.
“I have long been a strong advocate for mental health and supporting services, having started the lobbying process for headspace to be established in our city over three years ago,” Mayor Blomeley said.
“It is pleasing to see that today’s announcement goes a long way to addressing the growing need in our community to deliver tailored and holistic mental health support to those aged between 12 to 25 years,” said Mayor Blomeley.
“In April 2021, Clarence City Council unanimously supported my motion calling on the Federal Government to support the establishment of a full-time mental health support service for the young to be established on the Eastern Shore.
“Since then, I have worked closely with Federal Franklin Labor MP, Julie Collins and I thank her and the Albanese Government for honouring their election commitment and delivering this important service to those young people in our community most in need.”
