At its meeting on 19 April, Clarence City Council supported a notice of motion to negotiate with interested stakeholders for the continued operation of the Rosny Park Public Golf Course.

The motion deliberately and consciously excluded the YMCA, which denies them the opportunity to continue operating at the site under any extension of their current lease. An extension of the lease would have ensured continued availability of golf at Rosny, which is what many in our community were seeking.

This decision means that the YMCA can no longer operate the golf course after their lease ends on 30 April.

After this, golf will cease to operate on the Rosny Golf Course while council advertises for expressions of interest from interested stakeholders.

Council’s aim is to work through this disruption as quickly as possible so that people can return to playing golf at Rosny.

Once the expression of interest process is completed, negotiations can begin and a new operator engaged.

This process may unfortunately take some months to complete.

In the meantime, council will undertake basic maintenance of the course, including mowing of the fairways and operation of the irrigation system, as a temporary measure until a new operator has been found.
