The popular Bellerive Beach Park precinct is set to undergo an upgrade which will see the area become more user-friendly for all visitors.
The Clarence Foreshore Trail will soon be fully connected from Bellerive Bluff/Victoria Esplanade to the Bellerive Beach amenities block, with new park furniture including beach shower and foot wash facilities installed.
Clarence City Council Mayor Alderman Doug Chipman said while the Bellerive Beach Park Master Plan was undergoing review it was good sense to continue making considered improvements in the area.
“There is no doubt this is one of the most-loved sites in Clarence,” he said.
“It is busy every day of the week, all year around, and I know these enhancements will be appreciated by all who visit the area.
“The upgrade will improve safety and amenity while also complementing other works done in the area in recent years.
“It is good to know we are also laying the foundations for future works on the promenade as part of the master plan in years to come.”
The works, which are set to begin early next month, will also see the old carpark bitumen replaced with dune revegetation and grassed areas to improve both the visual aesthetics and useability of the area.
Sandstone walling, improved footpath connections to existing park facilities, native landscaping and irrigation will also be installed.
More than $500,000 will be invested in these permanent works, which have been designed in accordance with the final stages of the master plan, including the promenade.
Access to and from the nearby facilities including the all abilities playground, picnic plaza and barbeque areas, car park and pathways will remain open for the length of the project.
The tender was awarded Tasmanian-based contractor BlackCap Constructions and works are expected to be completed before spring.
